When: April 19th – 12PM-2PM

A pride-filled picnic with a twist! Come along for a kōrero, a feast, and have a go at hanging from one of our apparatuses! We have pole, aerial hoop and silks available. Enjoy some breathtaking feature performances and demos from instructors at Altitude Nelson, who will also be around to help guide you with trying a move, if you wish! Bring your kai, picnic blankets, camping chairs, and come hang with us. This is family-friendly so bring the little ones (and your fur babies, the park is dog-friendly), your friends and anybody who you think would be keen to give this a go, or hang out and watch some epic aerial arts! Some snacks will be provided, we please ask that you BYO lunch.

Trying an apparatus is NOT mandatory, we would love to see you regardless!

The backup location in the case of wet weather will be Altitude Nelson at 5 Pascoe Street. There is only street parking available at this location.

Accessibility information:

  • There are 2 wheelchair access points to the park – one on Milton St before the Botanical Reserve sign, and one just around the corner on Hardy Street East.
  • There is street parking available on Milton St and angled parks on Hardy St East right outside the park. There is heaps of street parking if you’re able to walk a short distance from further down Milton St or surrounding streets – Tory St is just around the corner from Hardy St East.
  • There are only binary-gendered toilets available at the park, and we are happy to escort you to these if you feel uncomfortable.
  • We ask that if you have any injuries, new or old to please inform us before trying an apparatus, as they are physically challenging.
