Festival Opening Ceremony & Rainbow Rally
Where: 1903 Square, Corner of Trafalgar Street and Selwyn Place, Nelson

Join us in town to paint the town rainbow and officially open the Whakatū Pride Festival for 2026.
- We will hear from a local queer elder: 2026 marks 40 years since the passing of the Homosexual Law Reform Act 1986.
- The Nelson Sambassadors will provide the festival atmosphere.
- Hear from City Councillor Sarah Kerby and Mayor Nick Smith
- Participatory public art details and more to be announced!
