About SANITI
SANITI was registered as an incorporated society in August 2002 as a not-for-profit charity. The Association was set up to advocate student voice and help students with any issues they have relating to studying at NMIT and being a student.
All enrolled students at NMIT are members of SANITI and are entitled to representation and services provided by the Association.
The Student President and Student Executive are elected to govern SANITI, make policy decisions, determine the Strategic/Operational Plan, and shape the direction of the association to reflect the priorities of the student body. Plans and budgets are approved by students each year. Members of the Executive are elected twice a year at the AGM [Annual General Meeting] and the SGM [Second General Meeting].
SANITI, sticks up for students, listens to students, works for students, and CELEBRATES students and their successes.
Come by or contact the office and talk to the staff about upcoming events, trips, any study issues, hardships… or whatever your concern may be – our door is always open!

I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the SANITI service for the support they provided me through NMIT. Their help has been instrumental in my journey, providing me with access to essential resources such as food, firewood, gasoline, and specialized medical care. Additionally, the emotional support they offered has been invaluable. I am especially grateful to Tamsin, who has been very kind and welcoming. Thanks to their help, I have been able to continue my studies and overcome significant challenges. I am very grateful and happy to share this testimonial to acknowledge the valuable work they do.
SANITI has been an incredible support system for me throughout my academic journey here at NMIT. From the very beginning, they made me feel welcomed, valued, and understood, especially while adapting to a new environment, having migrated from Fiji at the start of 2024. Whenever I faced challenges—whether academic or personal, the SANITI staff was there with heartfelt and hands on assistance. I was always met with helpful resources, kindness and understanding. Their genuine care and commitment to student well-being has had a lasting impact on my experience. In addition to the hands on help, SANITI checks in on our progress over time and that has always made me feel cared for and more than just ‘a number in their system’. Their presence on campus makes a real difference, and I’m incredibly grateful for everything they’ve done for me.
I am writing in support of the SANITI organization. The support and advice that SANITI offers is hugely beneficial to the students of NMIT here on the woodbourne campus. Alot of us are moving away from home, some for the first time, and having a few friendly faces in your corner is massive! In my Own experience Tamsin Clark has been of great support, guiding me through studylink communications and application’s and a whole range of general advice. She will regularly visit us in class and check in on us all. Her inquisitive and caring approach is noted and appreciate by myself and other students alike. The SANITI organization is a very positive addition to the NMIT campus here at woodbourne and I wholeheartedly support and endorse it.
Starting out as an international student was tough, everything was new and honestly, I felt lost. Then I found SANITI. They helped me with everything from CVs and assignments to mental health and even free food when I needed it most. I’m truly grateful to the whole team, huge shoutout to Kate and Megan for always being there at my hardest time. Thanks alot
SANITI has been my very helpful go-to for all things studylink in the midst of various change ups, confusions and change ups again. Their support here has been absolutely paramount to ensuring I, and many other students, can properly focus on our studies rather than painful admin tangles. They are also the centre for advocacy for us as students, ensuring that the institution properly is meeting our needs and rights as students. Their work with SANITI Employment is also very valuable to students, who often struggle with finding work that aligns with study. Their provision of meals, competitions, advice and support is essential for student wellbeing on all levels. SANITI is undeniably the go-to for any student troubles, and I am so grateful for their place on campus. Thank you SANITI!
Joining SANITI’s international student tour was one of the best parts of my time at NMIT – I got to explore NZ, eat amazing free food, and even with my best friend on the trip! Massive thanks to SANITI for creating such awesome memories
First of all, I would like to sincerely thank you for your kind support that helped me pass the Special Topic subject through the resubmission. With your guidance and encouragement, I was able to complete the programme successfully, and I’m so happy to share that I have achieved it with Merit. Thank you not only for supporting me with my studies, but also for being there during my personal challenges. Your kindness helped me balance both my academic and personal life, which I truly appreciate from the bottom of my heart. Once again, thank you so much for everything.
Over the past 3.5 years of studying toward my Bachelor of Nursing at NMIT, SANITI has been an invaluable support system for me. From the very beginning, they provided not just practical assistance, like financial advice and essential vouchers during tough times, but also the emotional support and encouragement that helped keep me going. There were moments when juggling studies, placements, and life felt overwhelming, but knowing SANITI was there made all the difference. Their team genuinely cares about student wellbeing, and their services helped me feel seen, supported, and part of a community. Losing SANITI would be a huge loss for students at NMIT. The impact they’ve had on my journey is immeasurable, and I know many others have similar stories. Their presence makes studying here not just possible, but meaningful. Thanking you
SANITI has been an incredible support during my study journey. They’ve helped me through times of hardship and provided access to free lunches, which has made a big difference. The team at the Marlborough campus is amazing — they truly care. They know us by name, check in regularly, and make sure we’re getting the support we need to succeed. Their personal approach makes studying feel less overwhelming and more connected. I’m so grateful for everything they do. There have been multiple times I would have been stranded and highly stressed without the support from the wonderful Saniti team.
SANITI has been supporting me throughout my journey, from the beginning up until now. They helped me create a strong CV, which led to me securing a job and they continue to be there whenever I feel overwhelmed with my studies or assessments. They’ve arranged meetings with course coordinators and provided ongoing guidance on how to manage assessments, balance work and study, and use my time wisely. I’m also truly grateful for the free food, essential items and care packages they regularly provide. It’s comforting to know that SANITI is always there to help and care for students like me. Thank you so much to the team for all their love, care and support.
